Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson Reading Reflection
1. Something that surprised me the most in my reading was knowing that Pixar is what made Steve Jobs a billionaire, not Apple. Something about Jobs that I admire most is his dedication and attention to detail. He was so determined to make things happen, that no matter the circumstance, he got them done. No matter the adversity or failure Jobs endured, he always overcame them. This perseverance is inspiring. An aspiring entrepreneur should learn to never lose sight of your goals from Steve Jobs.
2. Some competencies that Jobs had includes perseverance, drive and tenacity. He used every aspect of his life as a learning experience and always moved forward no matter what happened to him. He was driven to be detail oriented and make the impossible possible. He was tenacious in every endeavor of his career.
3. A part of the reading that was confusing to me was the falling out he had with some Apple cofounders. I wonder what really happened and how he left the company for some time.
4. If I could ask Jobs two questions, I would ask him what inspired him and what was his real, true passion. Inspiration and passion are something that are huge driving forces in my life, so I am curious, with someone as successful as Jobs, was it the same for him?
5. I think Jobs opinion of hard work was never giving up. I agree with this opinion. I think to make a change with the work you do, you should never give up. You should always look for new ways to get things done or more opportunities for success.
Remi,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reflection. I read the book at the time it was published, and I was also surprised to learn about the origin of Job’s fortune. He was certainly a visionary first, and a businessman second, and that got him in trouble sometimes. Regarding your blog post, I think that while you hit the right notes in addressing the questions for this assignment, your answers are somewhat brief and shallow. I am convinced you could add more depth to your explanations and support your conclusions with brief recollections, paraphrasing or even direct quotes from the book (with proper citation, of course.) In my opinion, going deeper while supporting your claims would strengthen your argument and make your post more rounded and complete.
Hey Remi,
ReplyDeleteI was very interested in reading your reflection because we both happen to read and write about Steve Jobs as our entrepreneur. I enjoyed reading your blog because even though we both read about the same person, we had different takes and perceptions of the story. It was cool to be able to see your explanations for what you admired most and least about Jobs. I think you did a great job listing and explaining your information, maybe going into a little more detail would make it perfect. Other than that, you did an awesome job. Overall, great post and details.
Dear Remi,
ReplyDeleteYour review on Steve Jobs was very interesting. He definitely had more drive and perseverance than the vast majority of people that have ever lived. I think that the aspect of Apple where Jobs left and cofounders took over was also very interesting, and something even a little sketchy. Overall, Steve Jobs was truly an inspiration for many people, being one of the most innovative individuals of our time.
Remi,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the very thoughtful review on Steve Jobs. His drive and persistence to succeed than any man that has come before him. And it probably won't ever be duplicated for a very long time. Steve Jobs revolutionized the tech industry with his inventions. I don't know where the world would be today with out the invention of Apple and the iPhone. Overall, Steve Jobs was truly a once in a generational type person, we are forever in his debt for all that he has done in the world.
Remi,
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is very cool that pixar is what jumpstarted Steve Jobs. Pixar has inspired many and made some of my favorite movies like Toy Story, Cars, and Monsters Inc. I also agree that he never gave up. He faced many challenges through out his journey with Pixar and the creation of Apple, but he ever let them stop him from achieving his goals.
