Celebrating Failure
At the beginning of the semester, I failed in one of my classes. Because it was the beginning of the semester, I thought I had all my due dates and assignments planned out, but in the midst of trying to get organized, I missed a date for an assignment. I did the initial portion of it but forgot to reply and participate in the discussion post. This resulted in me receiving a poor grade on one of my first assignments and making a bad impression on my classmates and teacher. I only discovered that I missed part of my assignment when it was graded a few weeks later. This failure has motivated me to be even more diligent in my studies this semester. I am lucky that it was not a larger assignment worth more points that would have affected my grade even more. This class has helped me realize that failures can always be turned into a good thing. I am able to Take my failures and grow from them, not sit and wallow about them. Failure is definitely a hard part of life, but I think it is important to not let it get you down. Everything in your life should be a learning experience - the good and the bad.

Remi,
ReplyDeleteI've had experiences very similar to your in some of the classes I've had while I was here at UF. In particular I had an experience like that in this class, I had done all the work for the assignments but I didn't see anywhere to submit the website URL and ended up not getting credit for any of the work. Thankfully I quickly learned from my failure and resolved the issue. Failure only makes us better, and I'm glad you were able to learn from your experience and grow from it.
Remi,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Everything happens for a reason and often times the bad things lead to good things. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it is important to grow from your failures. We can learn from our mistakes and make sure that history does not repeat itself.
